Job Summary Do you have the vision and drive to help grow our new Haringey Looked After Children CAMHS service? We are looking for a Practitioner Psychologist ready to step into this exciting opportunity to set up a new embedded service in partnership with LB Haringey. The ideal candidate will have CAMHS experience, including knowledge and experience of services embedded in social care settings and/or Looked After Children's services. Main Duties Build on our existing clinical model in place in Enfield, adapting it to suit the Haringey context. Design ways to ensure the voices of the children and young people the service cares for, and their carers, are central to the approach and clinical practice. Oversee clinical governance of the team, line manage and supervise the clinical work of a small team. Facilitate consultation and intervention to professionals, carers and young people. Undertake audit and evaluation of the model to refine and improve the offer and meet service KPIs. Primary Place of Work Local authority building in Wood Green (Haringey Council, 48 Station Road, Wood Green, N22 7TR). Required to meet carers and young people in the community where clinically indicated. Attendance at the Trust base at St. Ann's and other CAMHS sites when required. Coordinate a small team, currently an 8a CAMHS clinician and psychiatrist, likely to increase as the service develops. Develop, implement and evaluate the service's clinical model appropriate to the embedded CAMHS context. Support capturing the approach in operational procedures with the Service Lead. Undertake clinical work, supervision and offer comprehensive mental health assessment, therapeutic intervention and consultation to children and families. Provide specialist assessment and therapy, supervise and consult to non-clinical colleagues and other carers. Offer clinical supervision, governance and management oversight to the team. Report patient safety and safeguarding incidents and contribute to investigation of complaints and clinical incidents. Co‑ordinate liaison with professionals across health, social care, education and youth justice services, and other relevant community partners. Work flexibly and on an outreach basis in community environments as required by children and young people. Qualifications Essential: Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or equivalent); and Registration with the Health Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist. Evidence of post‑registration continuing professional development (CPD). Clinical supervision training. Desirable: PhD/doctorate related to clinical practice. Training and accreditation in additional therapeutic modalities/assessment skills relevant to the mental health of looked‑after children (e.g. Systemic approaches, DDP, trauma interventions, ADOS‑2). BPS Chartership. Leadership qualification. Teaching/mentoring qualification. Experience & Knowledge Essential: At least 2 years post‑qualification experience at Band 8a or higher in a relevant children/young person mental health setting (e.g. a CAMHS team embedded in Social Care or LAC CAMHS team). Experience providing psychological therapies to children, young people and families with a wide range of moderate to severe mental health problems in the community, including those in the Care system. Experience of child safeguarding procedures and how these apply in community CAMHS. Experience of developing clinical practice. Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' therapeutic care and treatment, both as a clinician and within a multidisciplinary team/care plan. Experience of clinical audits and developing action plans for improvement. Understanding of evidence‑based practice and ability to demonstrate how this influences clinical practice. Understanding of policy and legislation issues influencing the work environment. Desirable: Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision. Skills & Abilities Essential: Ability to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress with patients and through supervision of staff. Good IT skills, including electronic clinical records and Microsoft systems. Clinical supervision and appraisal skills. Good working, functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team and liaising with external agencies (primary care, education, social and health care). Enhanced biopsychosocial assessment skills. Good self‑reflective skills and ability to support others in reflection. Job planning and time‑management skills for self and others. Well‑developed communication skills to convey complex clinical information to clients, families, carers and professional colleagues. Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate support for children, young people, families and carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations. Desirable: Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non‑professional groups. Personal Qualities Maintain professional standards and follow codes of practice. Build and maintain effective working relationships with relevant parties. Adopt a positive view of change. Commitment to client‑centred, non‑discriminatory practice. Flexibility. Other Essential Requirements Ability to transfer to other health and non‑healthcare sites as and when required.
