Job Summary Do you have the vision and drive to help grow our new Haringey Looked After Children CAMHS service? We are looking for a Practitioner Psychologist ready to step into this exciting opportunity to set up a new embedded service in partnership with LB Haringey. The ideal candidate will have CAMHS experience, including knowledge and experience of services embedded in social care settings and/or Looked After Children's services. The Integrated Services team are a group of services embedded in community settings and/or working closely with clinical networks. We offer supportive management, dedicated to ensuring our integrated CAMHS teams remain well held and connected to the wider CAMHS teams. Main Duties Build on our existing clinical model in place in Enfield, adapting it to suit the Haringey context Design ways to ensure the voices of the children and young people the service cares for, and their carers, are central to the approach and clinical practice Oversee clinical governance of the team, line manage and supervise the clinical work of a small team Facilitate consultation and intervention to professionals, carers and young people Undertake audit and evaluation of the model to help us refine and improve the offer and meet service KPIs Your primary place of work will be at the local authority building in Wood Green (Haringey Council, 48 Station Road, Wood Green, N22 7TR), with requirement to meet carers and young people in the community where clinically indicated. You will also need to attend the Trust base at St. Ann's and other CAMHS sites when required. Coordinate a small team (currently an 8a CAMHS clinician and psychiatrist, but likely to increase as the service develops and matures). Develop, implement and evaluate the service’s clinical model appropriate to the context of the embedded CAMHS service. Support capturing the approach in operational procedures to guide the team. Undertake clinical work and supervision, offering a comprehensive mental health service to children the service cares for. Provide highly specialist mental health assessment and therapy, and undertake supervision and consultation to non-clinical colleagues and to other non‑professional carers. Offer clinical supervision, clinical governance, and management oversight to the team. Report patient safety and safeguarding incidents, and contribute to investigation of complaints and clinical incidents. Liaise with professionals across health, social care, education and youth justice services and other community partners. Work in highly flexible ways and on an outreach basis in community environments subject to the needs of the young person. Person Specification – Essential Qualifications Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or equivalent); AND Registration with the Health Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist Evidence of post registration continuing professional development (CPD) Clinical supervision training Person Specification – Desirable Qualifications PHD / doctorate qualification related to clinical practice Trained and accredited in additional therapeutic modality/assessment skills relevant to the mental health of looked after children (e.g. Systemic approaches, DDP, trauma interventions, ADOS‑2) BPS Chartership Leadership qualification Teaching / Mentoring qualification Person Specification – Essential Skills / Abilities Ability to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress both directly with patients and indirectly via supervision of other staff. Good IT skills with knowledge of electronic clinical records and Microsoft systems Clinical supervision and appraisal skills Good working, functioning as part of multi-disciplinary team and liaison with external agencies i.e. primary care, education, social and health care. Enhanced biopsychosocial assessment skills Good self‑reflective and supporting others in reflection skills Job planning and time management skills, for self and supporting others Well‑developed communication skills, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and professional colleagues within and outside the NHS. Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to children, young people, families and carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviours. Person Specification – Essential Experience & Knowledge At least 2 years post qualification experience at Band 8a or higher in a relevant children / young person mental health setting, e.g. a CAMHS team embedded in Social Care setting, or LAC CAMHS team Experience of providing psychological therapies to children, young people and their families with a wide range of moderate to severe mental health problems in the community, including those in the Care system. Experience of child safeguarding procedures and how these apply in community CAMHS Experience of developing clinical practice Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ therapeutic care and treatment, both as a clinician and also within the context of a multidisciplinary team/care plan Experience of clinical audits and developing action plans for improvement Understanding of evidence‑based practice and the ability to demonstrate how this influences clinical practice Understanding of the policy and legislation issues influencing the work environment.
