Band 6 Endoscopy Clinical Educator The closing date is 21 December 2025 A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit in an exciting new post as a dedicated Clinical Educator for Endoscopy. Are you an experienced registered nurse with two years of Endoscopy experience? Are you looking to further your development whilst demonstrating your passion for teaching and inspiring others? You will work in collaboration with the Endoscopy Management Team to assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of clinical education and staff development programs aimed at developing, standardising, maintaining and continually enhancing the learning environment and clinical skills of staff working in the Endoscopy Unit. A keen desire and self-motivation to develop this new clinical educator role is essential. This role will have both clinical and leadership components and displaying dexterity for juggling roles and responsibilities is fundamental. The individual needs to be able to demonstrate the ability to work autonomously under pressure and manage the mental and emotional demands of a role that requires flexibility and exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills. The right candidate will adopt different educational styles with a flexible approach to facilitating learning and support the advancement of educational programmes within the Endoscopy Nursing team to achieve standardised competency development. Main duties of the job Our procedures are varied and diverse and the successful candidate would be expected to deliver hands‑on training in procedures, kit and accessories, including troubleshooting any issues that arise. Work clinically alongside staff to train and coach. Writing inductions for new starters and students in Endoscopy, reviewing their progress, and writing action plans to ensure their training needs are met and they are fully supported. Ensuring Endoscopy specific and mandatory training compliance across Endoscopy. Maintaining accurate Endoscopy training records and ensure that staff are signed off in relevant DOPS. Completing timely appraisals. When required, creating performance management plans and supporting staff. Assist in organising, running and teaching on training sessions including directorate days, skills sessions, simulation sessions, and masterclasses. Build relationships with and communicate with cross‑site Endoscopy Educators, including the wider Endoscopy network, including Meta. Be an expert resource in Endoscopy and all procedures performed on your base unit. Support the maintenance of JAG compliance with regards to Endoscopy specific training and education, including JETS Workforce. The successful candidate will be required to join the on‑call team and support the service out of hours, a willingness to work across 7 days and unsocial hours and covering late shifts is an expectation of the role. Person Specification Qualifications NMC Registered Nurse/ Midwife or HCPC Registered Allied Health Care Professional. Post Graduate Diploma/ Certificate in Education or equivalent qualification or willingness to undertake. Evidence of continuous ongoing professional development in relation to the role applied for. Master's Degree or willingness to complete level 7 award. Experience Demonstrable experience/knowledge relevant to the role underpinned by theory and clinical practice or education gained from working in health and care practice settings applicable to the role. Demonstrable knowledge of education and practice development associated with registered and unregistered health care professionals. Experience in the supervision / assessment of learners / junior staff with evidence of completion of training in relation to mentoring/ assessment in clinical practice. Passion for teaching, education, training, and pastoral care. Demonstrable understanding and evidence of experience in practice‑based supervision and assessment. Has experience in determining decisions relating to clinical competence and fitness to practice. Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues relevant to the role. Can relate the principles of Safeguarding to the role. Knowledge of / experience in use of Quality Improvement methodology / tools. Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices. Experience of assessment and assignment marking and giving feedback. Ability delivers teaching packs/programmes to promote a learning environment. Experience in research and audit. Additional Criteria Ability to deal with complex facts and situations some of which will require analysis and comparison of a range of options. Ability to present/ deliver training to groups/ health care professionals with the ability to communicate effectively with staff that may have difficulty understanding.
