Overview MHCLG attracts strong interest from across Parliament, the corporate and third sector and the public. We are looking for a Correspondence Drafter and an Operations and Digital Officer, based in Bristol, Darlington or Wolverhampton. As a Correspondence Drafter you will handle enquiries from Parliamentarians and the public, drafting replies that will be sent directly or on behalf of Ministers. The Operations and Digital Officer will manage correspondence processes, including transfers, contribution requests, No.10 requests and inbox oversight, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows across the team. We have ambitions to become the best‑performing and most innovative correspondence team in Government. The successful candidates will play a vital role in helping us achieve our target of responding to more than 80% of correspondence within 20 working days. Responsibilities Draft high‑quality and timely replies to correspondence from Parliamentarians and stakeholders on behalf of the Department’s Ministers; Manage and prioritise casework so that replies are sent within 20 working days; Ensure that casework is accurately processed and tracked via our casework management system; Support the completion of in‑office tasks such as printing responses to be boxed for Ministers, scanning signed responses and opening hard‑copy post to ensure cases are processed in a timely manner; Develop and maintain knowledge of MHCLG policy areas in order to draft accurate and detailed responses; Handle timely management of correspondence transfers, contribution requests, No.10 requests and inbox oversight. Qualifications & Skills Confident writers with a keen eye for detail and the ability to strike the right tone depending on subject matter and respondent; Proactive and able to manage time effectively; able to manage multiple competing priorities; Strong interest in policy developments across Government, current affairs and how Parliament works; Confident about building positive working relationships with a wide range of teams; Experienced users of Office365, and willing to learn how to use our case management systems; Able to work full time and be based in one of the following locations: Bristol, Wolverhampton, Darlington. How did you ensure clarity and understanding? Experience questions will be based around the essential skills and criteria as listed in the job description. Salary & Benefits Salary: £28,622 per year. MHCLG contributes £8,291 towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Recruitment Process Initial sift will be based on the lead behaviour listed in the advert. Candidates who pass the sift may progress to a full sift or straight to interview.
