Work Base: Meadow House, Mansfield, NG18 2TB About the role Nottinghamshire’s Education, Health and Care (EHC) Assessment Service is a county‑wide service responsible for carrying out the statutory functions for Education Health Care Needs Assessments (EHCNA) and maintaining all Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are recruiting several Assistant EHC Practitioners to support our assessment and planning process and district‑based teams. As an Assistant EHC Practitioner you will act as the first point of contact for all enquiries regarding the statutory EHC needs assessment process, providing accurate and impartial information. You will support families and professionals by explaining EHC processes, timelines and expectations, working in collaboration with families, education settings and multi‑agency professionals to ensure that the support and provision is tailored to meet individual needs and statutory requirements. What you will do Act as the first point of contact for all enquiries regarding the statutory EHC needs assessment process, providing accurate and impartial information. Support families and professionals by explaining EHC processes, timelines and expectations. Collaborate with families, education settings and multi‑agency professionals to ensure that the support and provision is tailored to meet individual needs and statutory requirements. Gather, process, and update case information in relevant databases; assist in monitoring and tracking the progress. Deliver high‑quality administrative and casework support to meet statutory EHC requirements. Maintain clear, accurate, and organised case records in compliance with council policies and data protection laws. Hold GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent). Have NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance or equivalent relevant experience. Have strong written and verbal communication skills. Show excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening. Demonstrate problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
