The City of Liverpool College is the largest further education college in the Liverpool City Region. Job type: Permanent, part‑time TTO role, 17.5 hours per week. Application deadline: 15 December 2025. Location: Liverpool. The Role Progress Leader part time (term time only 40 weeks). You will support students to progress, achieve personal and academic targets, advocate for their needs, and ensure pastoral and safeguarding support. Key Responsibilities Ensuring students are making progress, achieving targets and personal goals. Enabling progression to higher levels of study or employment/apprenticeships. Acting as an advocate for the students. Ensuring pastoral support is in place. Contributing to the Strategic Plan of the College and its implementation. Collaborating with curriculum to plan transition into college for learners. Planning and delivering the Preparation for Learning induction programme. Ensuring students are enrolled on the correct programme through progress reviews and facilitating transfers. Planning and preparing high‑quality Personal Development group sessions. Maintaining electronic progress plans (Personal Development Plans and Progress Boards). Conducting 1:1 Progress Reviews to monitor and support student achievement. Working with cross‑college teams and careers to support student career ambitions. Identifying and putting in place interventions for students at risk. Advocating for learners and liaising with internal and external support teams. Facilitating gathering of student voice and feedback. Developing partnership with parents/guardians and agencies through events and progress reviews. Attending meetings and contributing to the development of PDP tools and resources. Sharing ideas, resources and best practice across the progress team and online platforms. Creating a safe, secure, confident learning environment and upholding safeguarding policies. Managing behavior, communication and respect, challenging discriminatory behaviour, ensuring compliance with college policies. Ensuring accurate capture of destination data. Supporting UCAS applications and reference writing. Addressing additional students’ English, Maths and study skills development. Reviewing professional development needs and participating in training. Essential Criteria Educated to Level 4 (e.g., Degree or equivalent). Excellent computer literacy – ability to use College IT programmes. Knowledge and understanding of Tutorial Provision or Personal Development. Experience working with vulnerable young people. Knowledge of post‑16 qualifications. Minimum Level 2 literacy and numeracy or willingness to attain. High level of communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and for self. Ability to manage tight deadlines and conflicting priorities. Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusivity and health and safety. Experience assessing students’ needs and planning curricula for their benefit. Desirable Criteria A recognised teaching qualification or vocational experience. Professional qualification relevant to the subject area. Engaged in continuing professional development. Excellent organisational and record‑keeping skills with high computer literacy. Membership of a relevant professional body. Good understanding of curriculum development to meet employer training needs. Good understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes.
