We handle a variety of different material types. Fibre (Silicon Carbide, Alumina Ceramic, Carbon Coating, and Tungsten Core, plus variety of chemical and gasses involved in the manufacturing process) Composites with the fibre and a variety of matrix materials (Titanium, Aluminium) and tooling, which is primarily steel based. Project Lead Engineer - Aerospace/Mechanical We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead Engineer with a proven track record of technical leadership in an engineering, production and development environment. The role requires strong customer relationship skills and a good understanding of the Aerospace sector, as the role will include working with new customers within that market. The projects will be developing and qualifying critical structural components for implementation in future aircraft platforms, based on TISICS advanced metal matrix composite and fibre technologies. We use novel manufacturing methods using diffusion bonding and also including dissimilar material joining. A strong focus on design-for-manufacture and production scale-up will be a key part of the role. The Technical Lead Engineer will be the Project Design Authority, liaising with the company Chief Engineer and relevant Technical Experts. The role will include applying conventional aerospace manufacturing and design methodologies to TISICS novel processes to ensure that an optimum design for manufacture I achieved which maximises the performance benefits of the material technologies whilst meeting the critical aerospace safety and economic considerations. Duties and Responsibilities Engineering leadership within projects Main technical point of contact for the customer, working closely with the Project Manager and component delivery team. Working with Project Manager to plan engineering tasks and resources Engineering work package management during projects to ensure delivery on-time, on-cost and on-quality Leading engineering and technical staff for projects, working collaboratively with the project, production and quality teams Review and approval of all engineering aspects of projects, in liaison with the chief engineer and relevant technical experts Leading the mechanical design of the products, including design, analysis, verification and test through all phases of projects to ensure compliance to customer requirements Leading the design-for-manufacture activities, in liaison with the production team Leading the preparation of all technical aspects of design reviews, including documentation and data packs Liaising with suppliers, customers and manufacturing/development staff Qualifications and Skills Qualified to degree level (BEng/BSc) in mechanical engineering or similar degree More than 5 years industrial experience in relevant environment with a good understanding of Aerospace technical and qualification standards Experience in design, development and delivery projects in a relevant industry Experience of developing components with a focus on design-for-manufacture Materials engineering knowledge would be an advantage Demonstrated technical leadership What we can offer: Competitive salary: negotiable, depending on specific experience and qualifications relevant to the role.
