Learn and apply the Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles and similar standards used in the UK public sector, with access to training and mentoring. Carry out user research activities such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, and desk research, under appropriate supervision. Help teams understand the diversity of users by supporting inclusive research practices, advocating for accessibility, and considering the needs of different user groups. Assist in analysing research data to identify patterns, user needs, and pain points. Present research findings in a clear and engaging way, tailored to different audiences. Build rapport with users and work collaboratively with product managers, designers, developers, and other team members. Develop an understanding of user‑centred design and agile ways of working, and learn how to apply them in delivery teams. Show curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to learn and grow as a User Researcher. This is a role designed to help you grow into a confident and independent User Researcher. You will be supported through: A dedicated training budget for formal courses Structured mentoring and shadowing with experienced Senior User Researchers. Opportunities to learn across a variety of project stage Qualifications Around 1–2 years of experience in user research, social or academic research, or a related discipline with transferable skills. Some practical experience of conducting qualitative and/or quantitative methods (e.g. usability testing, interviews, surveys, desk research). Full right to work in the UK.
