The company has an annual turnover of over £500 million and operates primarily in the UK water market, providing feasibility, design, construction and commissioning services for major water and wastewater schemes. MMB has been named a capital delivery partner on two multi‑million‑pound ‘lots’ that will see the company deliver projects across the region through to 2030, with the potential for a five‑year extension thereafter. Projects will be located around Bournemouth, Poole and South Dorset. We are looking for a proactive Environmental Specialist who will be part of our environment team, co‑located across the UK and supporting a regional team comprised of both design and operation staff. As Environmental Specialist, you will Identify specific environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle, from solution definition to completion. Support project teams to develop environmental risk mitigation measures, balancing cost, time, compliance, safety and social impacts. Plan and coordinate specialist environmental inputs (e.g. heritage, archaeology, ecology, geomorphology) to ensure tasks are completed on time and to required standards. Produce environmental deliverables at appropriate project milestones such as EIA screening assessments, material management plans and environmental management plans. Prepare applications for environmental permits and consents. Lead liaison with environmental regulators. Engage positively with clients regarding environmental and consenting matters, developing relationships and enhancing our reputation. Contribute to environmental improvement projects at local and regional levels. Assist in the production and delivery of training. What you’ll need Chartered or actively working towards chartership with a relevant professional body. Understanding of environmental disciplines and project risks in ecology, archaeology, drainage, geotechnical, contaminated land, landscape, and noise. In‑depth knowledge of one of these areas is desirable. Awareness of the planning process, including surveys and permits for relevant construction activities. Ability to coordinate environmental aspects through high‑level planning, organisation and communication. Experience advising on sustainability initiatives, including biodiversity net gain. Effective communication skills with team members and stakeholders. Methodical problem‑solving approach. Proactive and pragmatic mindset. Capacity to deliver results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently. Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
