Environmental Permitting Specialist
**About the Role**
Aztec West, Bristol, Hybrid.
Are you passionate about protecting the environment and ready to make a real impact on one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects?
Join EDF at Hinkley Point C and help shape the future of sustainable energy.
**The Opportunity**
We are recruiting for an Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our Environmental Technical Team at Hinkley Point C (HPC). This is your chance to be part of the first new nuclear power station in the UK in a generation, playing a key role in reducing carbon emissions and supporting the UK’s Net Zero goals.
**Pay, Benefits & Culture**
The salary associated with this role is £55,000 per annum. We offer flexible benefits that support our employees’ physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. Examples include: a market-leading company pension scheme, a bonus plan, health cover, electric vehicle leasing, mental health support and employee discounts.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.
At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
**What You’ll Be Doing**
You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and manage contractors delivering specialist assessments. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring permits are secured on time, enabling the safe and compliant construction of HPC.
As the project progresses, you’ll also support commissioning and operational teams, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in environmental permitting across the EDF group.
**Who You Are**
You bring a strong background in environmental science or engineering, with hands-on experience in environmental permitting. You understand the Environmental Permitting Regulations (England and Wales) 2016 and have worked with regulators like the EA, NRW, or SEPA.
You’re a clear communicator, a team player, and someone who thrives in complex, high-stakes environments. Ideally, you’re working toward chartered status and have experience in nuclear or major infrastructure projects—but above all, you’re driven to make a difference.
