OverviewHelping clients complete forms, including benefit applications, legal paperwork, or housing documents. Making phone calls on behalf of clients to government departments, service providers, or creditors. Advocating for clients by communicating clearly and assertively to resolve issues. Organising and reviewing paperwork, such as bills, letters, and official correspondence. Providing general administrative support, including note-taking, case updates, and follow-up actions. Where appropriate, offering practical advice based on life experience (e.g. running a business or household). Supporting clients in navigating bureaucracy and helping them feel more confident and in control. Knowledge of welfare and benefits is helpful but not essential—full training and support are provided. Responsibilities Assist clients with form completion and document handling across benefits, legal, and housing contexts. Make telephone communications with government departments, service providers, or creditors on behalf of clients. Advocate for clients through clear, assertive communication to resolve issues. Organise and review paperwork such as bills, letters, and official correspondence. Provide general administrative support, including note-taking, case updates, and follow-up actions. Offer practical guidance based on relevant life experience when appropriate. Support clients in navigating bureaucracy to increase their confidence and control. Utilise training and support provided for welfare and benefits knowledge as needed. Training and qualification Hours per session: Between 2 and 12 hours. Availability: Flexible OR On-going. Morning, Afternoon, Evening; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We are happy to be flexible on location and/or times if required. Volunteer expectations As a volunteer, you will join a team providing guidance and support to individuals navigating bureaucratic processes.
