Male Mental Health Support Worker Location - Telford £12.21 per hour This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1. Due to the nature of the role and the needs of the people we support, we can only accept applications from Males for this position. Gray Healthcare are recruiting a Male Mental Health Support Worker within the Telford area of Shropshire to support a gentleman in his 40s who has a diagnosis of Mild Learning Disabilities, Schizo‑Affective Disorder and Epilepsy who lives independently in his own home receiving 2:1 support 24 hours a day. The gentleman you will be supporting has a good sense of humour, enjoys outdoor walks and cooking. He is supported by a male only team on mixed shifts of days and waking nights. Mental Health Support Worker Required Skills and Experience Social care experience, ideally within mental health and with some experience of supporting individuals with Schizophrenia. Experience providing encouragement to a person with complex health needs and Learning Disabilities. Experience supporting individuals with behaviours which may be considered challenging. Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments. You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months. We no longer have any certificates of sponsorship available and are unable to consider sponsorship. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. Hours 1 x 24 Hour Contract - 2 x 12-hour day shifts, 8am to 8pm Induction and Training We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (Company induction, systems, and Medication). Followed by in‑person training on PROACT‑SCIPr‑UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, this is a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint dominate approaches. You will then complete the person‑centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. Training continues throughout your time with Gray Healthcare, and we encourage you to develop and grow your career with us.
