OverviewThe Cardio-Respiratory Department at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Part-time Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist‑Echocardiographer to join our busy, expanding multi-disciplinary team.Wirral University Teaching Hospital currently employs 8 cardiologists and 7 respiratory physicians and is developing services in a variety of areas within the department.The post is suitable for ETP/STP students (with Echo as their chosen interest) or individuals working towards BSE accreditation. Successful candidates will be employed under Annex 21 and, once BSE accredited, will receive a preceptorship to ensure they can independently work across all non‑invasive services, including line‑management duties.ResponsibilitiesPerform highly specialist diagnostic cardiac ultrasound, including specialist echocardiography, stress echo, and assist with Transoesophageal Echocardiography.Use knowledge and skills to interpret complex results and produce diagnostic reports.Communicate complex information with patients, relatives or carers, explaining procedures while considering learning or physical disabilities, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.Ensure availability, cleanliness and maintenance of equipment.Maintain appropriate stock levels and order stock via stock control or purchase requisition.Support the Cardiology Service Lead, assist with administration of the service and deputise in the service leader’s absence.Teach and supervise junior staff.Qualifications & RequirementsBSc in clinical physiology or equivalent.RCCP registration.ILS/ALS certification.British Society of Echocardiography accreditation and competence to issue independent echo reports.Experience with Echocardiography, Complex Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography and Transoesophageal Echocardiography.BenefitsWe are committed to professional development and will provide opportunity, encouragement and support for physiologists wishing to continue developing their skills.About the TrustWirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the Wirral peninsula, a beautiful area with a stunning coastline and countryside.
