We have an exciting opportunity for a law graduate to join our highly regarded well established niche firm based in Hoylake within our Court of Protection department.
We are seeking a determined and enthusiastic graduate who is looking to work within Mental Health law. This is an entry position which has the potential to progress to a paralegal role. For those aiming at qualification this role has the potential of a future training contract.
**General role**
To provide cost-effective administration and support to a Director and other members of the CoP department providing administration support for CoP costs and billing in addition to general admin duties on Court of Protection matters.
**Skills, Knowledge and Experience**
Law Graduate
Previous legal experience would be beneficial
Knowledge of MHA and desire to work in this area
Strong organisational and communication skills
Tact and resilience
A pleasant but assertive and confident manner.
Ability to work on own initiative whilst supporting a team
Thorough, pragmatic and excellent attention to detail.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Competent in the use of Information Technology
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
**Key tasks & responsibilities**
- Auditing files ready for billing, including WIP and disbursements
- Check and prepare file prior to sending to costs draftsman
- Liaising with Chambers and obtaining CF1As
- Routine admin including production of documents including accurate audio typing and production of correspondence and documents using digital dictation.
- Accurate completion of time recording
- Maintaining careful checks that all deadlines are met
- Photocopying, scanning, printing, filing and other general admin tasks
- Ability to prioritise and cope with changing demands
