This role offers meaningful experience supporting young people who may be vulnerable to social exclusion, disengagement from education, or early involvement with the youth justice system. Join a specialist SEMH and SEN provision in Hillingdon as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), where your presence will help students build emotional resilience, repair relationships through restorative practices, and feel seen and valued within their education. Aspiring Social Justice Officer – Learning Support Assistant Hillingdon – Education and Training – Aspiring Social Justice Officer – Learning Support Assistant Hillingdon As a Learning Support Assistant, you will: Support young people with autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs), PDA, and communication differences. Work with students who may be facing social inequalities or risk factors that contribute to exclusion. Use restorative conversations and trauma-informed strategies to encourage reflection, accountability, and personal growth. Promote emotional wellbeing, self-advocacy, and positive peer relationships. Become a consistent, trusted adult who promotes inclusivity and challenges stigma. This role is ideal for graduates pursuing careers in: Social Justice / Youth Advocacy / Equality & Inclusion Restorative Practice / Community Rehabilitation Social Work / Youth Work / Family Intervention Criminology / Psychology / Education or Policy Reform Your Responsibilities Will Include: Delivering structured 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN, SEMH, and autism. Supporting personalised learning plans focused on wellbeing, emotional regulation, and progress. Facilitating restorative conversations to repair harm and rebuild trust following conflict or challenge. Encouraging students to explore accountability, empathy, and their own decision-making. Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral leads, therapists, and families to monitor progress and tailor support strategies. Receiving training in relational behaviour support and de-escalation. Who We’re Looking For: Graduates in Social Sciences, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related disciplines. Individuals driven by values of equity, inclusion, and social change. Compassionate communicators who believe every young person deserves dignity, understanding, and opportunity. Experience in youth work, mentoring, or care settings is beneficial — not essential. What You’ll Need: A caring, proactive attitude and the ability to build rapport quickly. A commitment to restorative, trauma-informed, and non-punitive approaches. An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
