We are supporting a specialist school that is looking for a calm, reliable 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil who needs steady guidance throughout the day. The role is centred around helping them feel secure, understood, and ready to learn at their own pace.You do not need a long list of experience to be considered. Having worked with children or young people before is helpful, but the school is equally open to someone who brings patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.What you will be doing Offering one-to-one support to a pupil with SEMH needs, helping them manage emotions and stay engaged. Encouraging positive routines and building a trusting relationship. Supporting learning in and out of the classroom, following clear guidance from staff. Working alongside teachers, mentors, and support staff to ensure consistency throughout the day. What the school would like to see A calm, thoughtful approach to supporting children who may have difficult moments. Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport over time. A willingness to learn new strategies and follow clear plans. Experience is ideal but not essential. The right attitude is what truly matters.
