Main duties of the job NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB) have an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate to lead the organisations work in respect of Emergency Planning Resilience and Response (EPRR) and System Resilience working with the Deputy Director of EPRR, the Deputy Director of System Resilience and the wider EPRR and System Resilience Teams to ensure that the organisation is compliant with its legal responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act and the NHS England EPRR framework, providing assurance to the ICB Governing Bodies and regulators, and providing strategic and operational leadership to the resilience function across Sussex.When in post youwill and take responsibility for the strategic and operational development ofplans and policies to ensure a safe and effective response to EPRR and SystemResilience across Sussex, the development of and maintenance of effective EPRR,system operations and business continuity arrangements, facilitation of atraining and exercising programme for EPRR and system resilience, support theannual EPRR assurance process and manage EPRR and System Operations meetingsacross the Sussex Integrated Care System.
The successfulcandidate will need to be educated to masters level or equivalent in thisspecialist area, such as the Diploma in Health EPRR, be proactive and able towork independently as well as part of a team and have previous experience ofworking at a senior level within the NHS.

As a member of staffyou will be encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working that willhelp us achieve that goal.Working for us -Sussex Health and Care ( Job description Job responsibilities The Head of Emergency Planning, Resilience and Response (EPRR) and System Resilience will be responsible for leading the organisations work in respect of Emergency Planning Resilience and Response (EPRR) and System Resilience working with the Deputy Director of EPRR, the Deputy Director of System Resilience and the wider EPRR and System Resilience Teams.
They will be expected to deputise for the Deputy Directors of EPRR/System Resilience as required.
The postholder will support the Deputy Directors of EPRR/System Resilience in ensuring that the organisation is compliant with its legal responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act and the NHS England EPRR framework, providing assurance of the same to the ICB Governing Bodies and regulators, and providing strategic and operational leadership to the resilience function across Sussex.
This role will be required to work closely with other Sussex-wide or place based functions (including but not limited to Sussex-wide Urgent Care function, Sussex-wide planned care functions, Resilience, Community and Primary Care commissioning, Contracting, Performance and Intelligence, Finance and Quality to ensure any local developments and commissioning initiatives are framed in way that is consistent within the wider Sussex-wide approach and taking into account the strategic direction of other directorates.
The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective EPRR and System Resilience programme for the NHS within the Sussex geography.
Working with the Sussex EPRR and Operational Resilience teams, they will have responsibility for the strategic and operational development of plans and policies to ensure a safe and effective response to EPRR and System Resilience across Sussex.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
Extensive knowledge of more than one specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma (such as the Diploma in Health EPRR) or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to masters level equivalent In-depth professional knowledge in a number of disciplines financial management, performance management, information systems, staff management acquired through training and experience over extended period Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, the Strategic Health Authority and individual provider and commissioning organisations Skills and Capabilities Essential Plans and organises a broad range of complex activities, formulating and adjusting plans to reflect changing circumstances.
Inputs to strategic plans across NHS and within the specific teams.
Good use of available information sources to enable efficient and effective planning.
Ability to work under pressure and to tight and often changing deadlines.
Skills for direct line management and job management.
Skills for delivering results through managing through others and using a range of levers in the absence of direct line management responsibility.
Experience Essential Experience of working with Stakeholders to develop performance improvement plans and to develop plans for innovation and opening up the market.
Previously responsible for a budget, involved in budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes.
Experience of managing relationships with a range of different stakeholders.
Other Essential Manages team within the constraints of NHS strategic plan.
Ability to work on own initiative and organise workload, allocating work as necessary.
