An exciting career opportunity has arisen to join the developing Psychological Therapies Training Team, a partnership between BCUHB and Bangor University, to build capacity and skills in specific psychological therapies in services working with children and families, in line with Matrics Plant () One new part time post is available, for WTE two day a week.
Successful candidates will be accredited in CBT and will join three part-time clinicians delivering accredited training and supervision across the workforce, with plans for further expansion in the future.
There are strong links with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme and the Bangor University PG Dip Cert/Dip courses.
There is also commitment to increasing access to adapted psychological therapies for children and young people with developmental and learning disabilities.
Opportunities to engage in research will be encouraged.
Main duties of the job Responsible for delivery of university level accredited training in evidence-based psychological therapies to staff from multiple professions across the Health Board.
To work autonomously in accordance with The British Psychological Society Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles & Guidelines 2004 and guidelines from the relevant professional body specific to the practitioner ( BABCP).
To deliver a highly specialised service to clients of the sector, providing specialised psychological assessment and therapy relevant to the training role, to one or two clients, in order to maintain accreditation.
To hold designated responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice, in order to ensure the delivery of high quality services.
To exercise delegated responsibility for the management and supervision of designated staff up to and including senior level, including staff appraisal/PADR, and informal grievance.
To contribute to the development of policies and procedures in the Team in order to facilitate improvements in service quality.
To provide clinical supervision for trainee practitioners and support staff to make informed clinical judgements in complex clinical situations.
To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research.
To assist the Head of Child Psychology and Psychological Therapies in the delivery of services for children and young people in order to improve quality and outcomes.

Person Specification Qualifications and/or Knowledge Essential Accredited therapeutic training in specific modality relevant to advertised role CBT for clients with significant psychological difficulties or training to Doctoral level equivalent through: a qualification in a core mental health profession appropriate therapeutic training in specific modality in working with clients with significant psychological difficulties Doctoral level equivalent knowledge of psychological therapy Eligible for appropriate professional registration Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management Desirable Accredited training in one other additional evidence-based psychological therapy Training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of health and social care Training in supervision and / or training at a recognised accredited level Accredited training at Doctoral level in a relevant profession, or working towards such training Experience Essential Substantial assessed experience of working as a qualified psychological therapist, normally including significant post-qualification experience within the designated speciality where the post is located, or relevant transferable skills Substantial assessed experience of working as a qualified practitioner, normally including significant post-qualification experience within the designated speciality where the post is located, or relevant transferable skills or Substantial assessed experience of working as a qualified practitioner at a senior level, including significant post-qualification experience within the designated speciality where the post is located, or relevant transferable skills Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings Experience of working with client groups across an increasing range of clinical severity Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care, with experience of co-ordinating care within the context of multi-disciplinary care-planning Experience of providing teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision Desirable Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision Experience of the application of psychological therapy in different cultural contexts Experience of professional management of qualified practitioners and other staff Aptitude and Abilities Essential Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the appropriate professional body Skills in critically evaluating research literature and carrying out audit and service evaluation Well-developed skills in the supervision of other staff, including trainee practitioners Well-developed skills in effectively communicating very complex, technical and clinically sensitive information, both orally and in writing, to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS Developed skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups Capable of maintaining a high degree of professionalism and safe clinical practice in the face of exposure to emotive material and challenging behaviour The ability to identify and provide appropriate means of support to line-managed staff who deal with distressing situations, challenging behaviours and other stressors The ability to use a variety of complex multi-media materials for teaching and training Capable of effective workload management The ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of multidisciplinary colleagues Basic IT skills Desirable Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult-to-treat groups ( personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc) Doctoral level or doctoral level equivalent knowledge of research design and methodology, including multivariate data analysis as practised within the field of clinical psychology Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies Ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills Recognised qualification in supervision Welsh speaking Advanced IT skills
