We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a family run SME based in Colchester .
With ambitious growth plans, they have created this is a fantastic opportunity which will allow for you to put your own stamp on the finance function, and ultimately grow with the business.
As Financial Controller you will be responsible for the overall management of the accounts function, take ownership of management reporting and partner with the department heads to firm up on budgeting, in order to ensure profitability.
Key Responsibilities: Provide a high level of management reports Work alongside department heads to pull together budgets and support them in managing budgets effectively Submit monthly management accounts by 10th working day of each month Accurate and comprehensive reports are provided the day following month end.
Ensure that data for the above is entered onto the accounts software in time to complete the above Pull information together so that the accountants can complete the annual accounts by the 20th working day of the following month Maintain all ledgers within the ERP system and ensure expenses get allocated to the correct budgets and cost centres.
Conduct credit reviews on customers with credit accounts.
Ensure all receipts are provided for personal expenses submitted by directors/sales reps and process invoices – and payments to the individuals where necessary Approve/disapprove new accounts for credit based on reports obtained from credit reference agencies.
Manage debt collection process once court proceedings have been agreed.
Inform customers and sales staff of all new credit accounts opened on a weekly basis Submit VAT returns Conduct bank reconciliations Requirements Requirements Experience:  Demonstrable success as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance role within a small to medium enterprise Qualifications:  Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong commercial and technical skills.
Skills:  Expertise in project costing, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
Mindset:  Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-oriented, with a proven ability to thrive in an SME setting.
Systems:  Experience in streamlining financial systems and driving operational efficiency Benefits Salary : £45,000 to £55,000 Free snacks and hot drinks Monthly staff meetings with free lunch 22 days of paid holiday plus bank holidays increasing to 25 days with service A company laptop on-site parking Growth by sharing bonus scheme.
Hours-   7.30am-4.30pm Monday- Friday
