Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of a new operating theatre team for Maternity.
York and Scarborough NHS Foundation Trust provides care to women living in and around York, North Yorkshire and the East Cost, with an increasing demand on Caesarean Sections (elective and emergency).We are looking for experienced Scrub Practitioner to join our Maternity operating theatre team in York and Scarborough.
This is a golden opportunity to work within our Maternity multidisciplinary team and have a positive impact in our community.To be successful in your application, you will need to be able to demonstrate either 3 years' experience in Maternity Theatres OR 3 years' experience in Gynae/GI/Vascular or Urology Theatres.Part time hours are available with the minimum being 23 hrs.
(2 shifts per week).
Main duties of the job Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritise the care for patients undergoing a Surgical / Anaesthetic procedure.Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information using a variety of methods, to ensure effective understanding.Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres, through sharing knowledge and expertise as required.Prepare and organise clinical area to receive patients for elective and emergency.To safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list.Responsible for adhering to the NMC / ODP professional Code of Conduct.

Person Specification Qulaifications Essential Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Level 1) or qualified Operating Department Practitioner with HPC registration or Anaesthetic Nurse (ENB 182/183 or equivalent) Desirable Teaching qualification Experience Essential 3 years' experience in Maternity Theatres OR 3 years' experience in Gynae/GI/Vascular or Urology Theatres Desirable Practice assessor / mentor experience Willingness to train as a mentor Knowledge Essential Demonstrate awareness of current issues in Maternity Services within the NHS Desirable Demonstrate awareness of theatre specialty, and/or specific needs of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Demonstrates awareness of evidence based practice within a Theatre environment Demonstrates understanding of Health and Safety / COSHH Behaviours Essential Demonstrates a professional approach to patient care.
Desirable Capable of lateral thinking Ability to work autonomously and as a member of the MDT skills and Attributes Essential Demonstrate use of good written, communication and listening skills across all settings.
