How you'll make a difference The Education Welfare Service provides a service to all schools and academies across South Gloucestershire aiming to improve attendance and promote early intervention with families.
As Education Welfare Officer, you will play a key role in improving school attendance and educational attainment, working closely with schools, families and young people.
This role is term time only - 39 weeks per year.
What you will be doing Working closely with statutory services, schools, parents/carers, pupils, and other agencies, you will provide advice and guidance relating to school attendance and roles and responsibilities.
Using your organisational skills, you will have a caseload of commissioned work for schools across the local authority to regularly review attendance with these schools.
By analysing data, you will help to improve school attendance across South Gloucestershire as part of the School Attendance Team.
It will be key for you to provide support to schools, reviewing the attendance procedures and policies and facilitate the formal on-attendance process where patterns of absence do not improve.
When required, you will support the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Education Team to gather information from educational settings for individually referred cases.
What we need from you You must have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification .
It is a requirement that you have experience working within similar areas such as education or social care.
You will have a strong understanding of legislation, regulations and codes or practice pertaining to this area.
Due to the nature of this role, you must be organised and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
What you need to know:   This is a limited term contract until December 2026.
This role is term time only - Salary pro-rata to hours worked.
