Licensing Compliance Officer

Key Responsibilities:
As a member of the Licensing Team at South Gloucestershire Council, you will play a crucial role in ensuring public safety, protecting the environment, and preventing public nuisance through the enforcement of licensing regulations, administration, and compliance.
- Investigate complaints, record evidence, and take necessary enforcement actions in line with legal guidelines.
- Conduct inspections, surveys, and present reports, serving notices, taking statements, and issuing formal cautions when required.
- Administer and enforce licensing functions, visiting licensed premises, traders, and residential dwellings as necessary.
- Provide specialist advice to service users on agreed policies, establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
- Plan and organise projects and cases to achieve defined council policy outcomes in accordance with agreed standards and timescales.
Requirements:
- Education to degree standard or equivalent, or relevant knowledge and experience.
- Experience in delivering local authority regulatory licensing work or equivalent.
- Specialist knowledge of licensing and other regulatory issues, with a good understanding of the service delivery environment.
- Ability to manage workload, prioritise, and respond to demands to ensure customer satisfaction and legislative requirements are met.
- Effective communication skills to interact with service users, professionals, and partnership agencies.
