We havethe opportunity for a Mental Health Practitioner to work for 1 year in a pilotin the Young Peoples Substance Misuse Treatment Service in Plymouth.We have the opportunity fora resilient,innovative, and motivated mental healthpractitioner who is passionate about improving the lives and mental health ofour young people, to work in a pilot with the young peoples substance misuseservice in Plymouth.This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route; please refer to the Direct Gov website for more information with regards to eligibility.Please note that Livewell may close the job advertisement earlier than the specified deadline if a high number of applications are submitted.

Main duties of the job This role is to offer mentalhealth assessment, Intervention and consultation to the young people accessingthis service who present with a comorbid mental health presentation, you willprovide a pathway between CAMHS and the young peoples substance misusetreatment service to ensure smooth transitions for this group of young people.The post will be located within team with The Childrens Society who will provideclinical supervision and support any training needs.
They however will sit within CAMHS and will receivecaseload/line management from CAMHS.Please note this is a permanent post if this pilot is notfunded past 2025 the applicant will be move to a vacancy in the wider CAMHSService.

Job description Job responsibilities This is an exciting new role being developed in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
A CAMHS Mental health Practitioner that will specialise in working with Children and Young People who present with substance misuse issues and co-morbid mental health presentation within the Young People Substance Misuse Treatment Service In Plymouth.
They will be co-located within the Sharp Team.
However, will be Line managed and caseload management within CAMHS and Clinical supervision in the Substance Misuse Service The post holder will provide.
Assessment Psychological Interventions (this could include Motivational Interviewing to help young people focus on strengths and finding solutions.
Training can be provided if needed).
They will provide 10 to 15 sessions monitored by using outcome measures and will work closely with all the pathways and enable the facilitation of CYP moving seamless around our pathways.
Consultations with other agencies and professionals Group work Health Promotion Our young people dont fit into boxes or models of therapeutic delivery we hope this new post we will attract the type of clinician that will adapt to the young persons presentation using all their skills.
Enabling the CYP to come into The Young People Substance Misuse Treatment Service In Plymouth and back out again without need to access longer term CAMHS interventions.
The successful applicant will also be supported to undertake additional therapeutic training depending on the skills they arrive in our service with.
This role will also undertake line management and caseload management and supervision responsibilities for junior staff to support their development and the applicants development.
To work with children and young people who may present mental health difficulties Co-ordination and implementation of evidence-based interventions in a timely manner, in collaboration with the other clinicians across the CAMHS Pathways.
The postholder will need to have an awareness, knowledge and understanding of therapeutic principles to inform their practices and to support in providing interventions, outcomes so delivery best outcomes for CYP.
Assessments and interventions will come external to this post and from internal routes.
Providing 15 contacts with young people and families each week.
To support the delivery of evidence-based group programmes for children and young people with mental health issues from a portfolio of available CAMHS training Take a lead in representing CAMHS in multi-agency meetings such as EHAT, SEND meetings or child protection meetings to co-ordinate and have oversight of mental health element of a multi-agency plan around a child.
To function as a member of the CAMHS Service taking appropriate responsibility for the implementation of decisions made by the pathway.
Ensure planned interventions are implemented effectively and evaluated using Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS) Maintain standards of care to highest level within available resources.
To actively participate in line management with senior and junior members of staff.
To liaise effectively with the other CAMHS Pathways To develop and maintain relationships with providers statutory and non-statutory.
To maintain confidentiality in respect of the young people at all times.
Communicate clearly with children and young people, their families and all other health professional groups about their health problems.
Actively participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives, clinical audit, essence of care or clinical policy development.
Ensure that children and young people are encouraged to play a part in decision making about the help they need and how they can access specific interventions.
This is to promote person-centered planning.
Provide Clinical Assessment and supervision for students.
Knowledge, Training and Experience: The post holder will be responsible for updating their own practice, knowledge and skills within their sphere of practice including Livewell Southwest mandatory training.
Knowledge of Policy and legislation.
Knowledge of Mental Health and Mental Health service delivery.
Excellent knowledge of the principles of the CYP IAPT programme and a willingness to undertake training.
Consideration of a variety of therapeutic modalities and information Analytical and Judgmental Skills: Expert ability in receiving information, analysing and formulating professional judgments.
The post holder will provide assessment and targeted interventions focused on Early Help working within the I Thrive model of care to offer the most appropriate input to the children and young peoples needs.
Ability to match children and young peoples need with available skills and resources.
Planning and Organisational Skills: To take a lead role in the co-ordination of allocation of work with the available skill mix utilising, prioritising, negotiation and delegation.
Liaise with other services to arrange appointments that both meet the needs of child or young person and service demands.
Physical Skills: Confidence to travel in an urban environment Competent key board skills Ability to take accurate physical observations blood pressure, pulse and temperature.
Responsibilities: Take a lead in early intervention working with targeted response to outcome measures.
Formulate plans for appropriate interventions or to sign post to relevant services.
Making appropriate agreed referrals for longer-term treatment.
Take a lead role in clinical decision-making and collaborating with other team members in the provision of children and young peoples care packages.
Ensure the on-going effective use of routine outcome monitoring in line with CAMHS Service requests.
Take a lead role in the identification of risk and the formulation of risk management plans within the identified schools..
Provide education to children, young people and their families to enhance their knowledge therefore improving longer-term concordance.
Promote resilience and prevention of mental health issues.
Maintain high standards of clinical care to children, young people and their families.
To liaise and work with other CAMHS pathways to ensure the needs of children and met by the right team, on the right pathway at the right time.
Responsibility for Policy and Service Development Expected to contribute to the development of the CAMHS Service policies including the formulation of protocols.
Implement all appropriate National, Livewell Southwest and Local Home Treatment policies and protocols.
Responsibilities for Human Resources: Provide clinical supervision and line management supervision for junior members of staff.
Have the ability to challenge staff where the standard falls below expectations.
Assist in education programmes provided for junior staff.
Provide mentorship for students both formally and informally.
Participate regularly in recruitment and selection of staff.
The post holder will behave in a manner that does not bring the CAMHS Service or Livewell Southwest into disrepute.
Responsibility for Information Resources: Responsible for Systm1 contacts and monitor the standard of work of junior staff.
Maintain accurate, timely paper and electronic records.
Ensure they are kept safely in accordance with Livewell Southwest policy.
Responsibility for Research and Development: Provide a positive role in clinical audit and service evaluation to ensure high levels of clinical effectiveness.
Freedom to Act: The post holder will be individually accountable for their practice in accordance with the NMC professional Code of Conduct or HCPC.
The post holder will actively participate in line management supervision with the Team Manager.
Provide line management for junior staff.
The post holder will actively participate in clinical supervision in accordance with Livewell Southwest policy.
The post holder will actively participate in the Livewell Southwest appraisal system and provide appraisals for junior staff.
The post holder will carry out other duties commensurate with the position as required.
Mental Effort: Accurate manual and electronic record keeping whilst coping with constant interruptions and distraction in the work place for example: telephone calls and questions from colleagues.
Constantly deal with sensitive, intricate and complex clinical and service decisions whilst frequently being required to change from one activity to another at a third party request, Telephone or staff interruption and be able to respond in a positive and constructive manner to emergency situations.
Managing to extract information from people with communication difficulties due to acute distressing mental health problems, often in noisy or busy environments.
