Along with our staff networks and training opportunities, we work hard to embed a just and compassionate culture here at NELFT.Find out more about NELFT careers and what makes our Trust a great place to work, in this video Job overview The post holder will achieve this by forming part of the NELFT Clinical Health Psychological Services (CHPS) in Waltham Forest, and will be responsible for providing specialist clinical psychological assessments and evidence-based psychological therapy interventions to patients, carers, and families referred with physical health conditions including long term health conditions, chronic pain and medically unexplained symptoms.
This will include a triage function, as well as providing advice and consultation on patients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, and to non-professional carers and family members Main duties of the job The post holder will be required to be an autonomous practitioner, and to have expertise in managing referrals, triaging patients, and signposting referrals when necessary to other mental health services, such as to their local IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service, relevant secondary mental health services, and psychiatric liaison services.
A solid and robust understanding and knowledge of mental health presentations and clinical risk is hence essential, as is the ability to offer consultation and advice to non-psychology staff in risk assessment, and clinical health presentations.
The postholder will offer a clinical psychology perspective on cases, which will include neuropsychological assessments and interventions when required Working for our organisation Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.
All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.
As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.
The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.Probationary PeriodThis post will be subject to a probationary period.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities 1.
To be responsible for undertaking psychological assessments of patients presenting with psychological disorders in the context of general medical /physical health conditions, including those with long-term health conditions, chronic pain, and medically unexplained symptoms.2.
To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and / or management of the cognitive, emotional, behavioural, physical and psychological health of people with psychological distress in relation to their physical health, utilising a bio- psycho-social model, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the patient's problems.3.
To implement a range of psychological interventions both therapeutic and psycho- educational, for individuals, families and groups, using at least three evidence-based interventions and best practice guidelines.Use of AIApplications for this role should be written by the applicant.
