We would value applicants who enjoy teaching / mentoring, working in a well-structured environment and are proactive and enthusiastic about new learning and development opportunities.The post holder will provide technical support for all clinical and Animals (Scientific) Procedures Act 1986 - A(SP)A - regulated work performed at the Animal Welfare and Veterinary Services Department. This will include provision of peri-operative surgical support for the veterinary team, to ensure high standards of animal care and welfare are always maintained. This is a full time, permanent position.Essential Job Duties: Support Named Veterinary Surgeon/s in relevant clinical work and provision of laboratory animal medical and surgical care in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act and the Guidance of RCVS Code of Conduct Liaise with and support Named Animal Care and Welfare Officers in the care of the animals housed on site, in line with A(SP)A requirements and as indicated in the guidance notes to the Act Assist Named Veterinary Surgeon/s to ensure company policies and practices regarding animal care and welfare are in compliance with relevant regulations, including GLP procedures Assist in training and supervision of staff on routine regulated and husbandry procedures including anesthesia and surgery Manage surgical theatres and associated areas, including maintenance of relevant equipment, ordering of drugs and consumables and day-to-day management of dispensary Conduct A(SP)A regulated procedures in accordance with the Personal and Project License authorities Promote and continuously implement the 3Rs principles and culture of care.
