We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Clinical Anaesthetist to join our team in Huntingdon. As a key member of the Department of Animal Welfare and Veterinary Services, you will provide technical support for all clinical and regulated work performed at the Animal Welfare and Veterinary Services Department.

This is a full-time, permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where you can make a significant impact on human and animal health. We value applicants with diverse backgrounds, including Registered Veterinary Nurses, experienced Animal Technicians or other health professionals with relevant experience in anaesthesia and a desire to learn about laboratory animals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Named Veterinary Surgeon/s in relevant clinical work and provision of laboratory animal medical and surgical care in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act and the Guidance of RCVS Code of Conduct
  • Liaise with and support Named Animal Care and Welfare Officers in the care of the animals housed on site, in line with A(SP)A requirements and as indicated in the guidance notes to the Act
  • Assist Named Veterinary Surgeon/s to ensure company policies and practices regarding animal care and welfare are in compliance with relevant regulations, including GLP procedures
  • Manage surgical theatres and associated areas, including maintenance of relevant equipment, ordering of drugs and consumables and day-to-day management of dispensary
  • Conduct A(SP)A regulated procedures in accordance with the Personal and Project License authorities
  • Promote and continuously implement the 3Rs principles and culture of care.


What We Offer:

This role comes with a competitive salary of £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus enhanced pension contributions, private healthcare, on-site gym, opportunities for professional development, and no weekend or out of hours requirements.
