Antenatal & Newborn Screening Failsafe Officer - Maternity

Job summary We are recruiting for an Antenatal and New-born Failsafe officerwho shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will participate in the running of the specialist administration of Antenatal & Newborn Screening Services in accordance with Department, Trust, and National standards.
You will monitor and maintain an accurate screening database of the eligible population and ensure safety of the screening programs.
You will maintain and evolve mechanisms to collect cohort data and quarterly key performance indicators (KPI), annual reports, the National Congenital Anomalies Register of Rare Diseases (NCARDRS) as well as providing a daily analysis of impending breaches on failsafe systems Smart 4 Nipe (S4N), Northgate Newborn Bloodspot failsafe solutions and action these appropriately meeting the service specifications.

Main duties of the job The ANNB failsafe officer will have overall responsibility to provide an effective and efficient t failsafe administration of all the ANND screening service.
They will work closely with the ANNB screening co-ordinator to facilitate failsafe mechanisms to identify, and prevent, missed screening opportunities, and maintain an audit for all the ANNB screening process and to participate in the organisation of meetings.
The ANNB failsafe officer will be expected to communicate with service users in relation to screening appointment or DNA.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Ability and willingness to undertake all training required to carry out the requirements of the role NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of knowledge and experience Desirable GCSE or equivalent which demonstrate competency in literacy and numeracy Qualification or evidence of training in Excel, databases, Word etc Experience Essential Evidence of being able to work on own initiative without supervision Previous experience of working in a customer/patient focussed environment, ideally within the NHS in a similar setting Desirable Demonstrates experience of teamworking and ability to work in a team Previous experience of managing or supervising a team including development, appraisals, sickness, performance etc Experience of contributing to policy development and Standard Operating Procedures Skills Essential Excellent communication and presentation skills including interpersonal skills Ability to work in a busy pressurised environment without supervision Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and use own initative Evidence of excellent teamwork Advanced IT skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Email The ability to run reports as required and interpret/analyse data Able to manage own time efficiently Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability Desirable Evidence of ability to manage stressful situations including distressed patients and relatives Knowledge Essential Understand and practices the principles of confidentiality at all times Demonstrates a current knowledge of current issues related to the NHS Desirable Knowledge of relevant medical terminology relating to Ophthalmology Understand of Failsafe and how this relates to patient care
