Job overview The Movement Disorder Neuromodulation service is a regional, national and international referral centre for the neurosurgical management of movement disorders.
We are based within the Neurosciences Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
Our service is one of the busiest Neuromodulation services in the UK offering Deep Brain Stimulation and lesional surgery for patients with movement disorders including those associated with Parkinson's disease, tremor and dystonia.An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team.
The post-holder will be involved in the care of patients throughout the pathway including participation in pre-operative assessment, the peri-operative period and long-term management of patients with Deep Brain Stimulators.
The post-holder will have proven recent experience at minimum band in a relevant area of practice.
You will have a demonstrable interest in movement disorders/Neuroscience.
We are keen to help you transition into this specialist role and our team will support you to develop the specific skills required to undertake this post.
The ability to work collaboratively within the team is essential.
A flexible approach to working hours is required.
Main duties of the job Job Summary:Neuromodulation specialist nurses work within the Movement Disorder neuromodulation service.
The post will involve working within the Deep Brain Stimulation team, supporting the surgical management of people with movement disorders from referral to implant and follow-up.If you are a motivated, dynamic, highly organised nurse with excellent interpersonal and communications skills then this may be the opportunity you are seeking to develop your practice within a specialist service.
