Main duties of the job We are currently looking to recruit a part-time Medical Receptionist to join our Practice.
The successful candidate will be patient focussed, a good team player and flexible in their approach, working for a busy medical centre.We are looking for part-time support between 8am and weekdays.
Additional hours may be needed when other receptionists are on leave or when the practice needs require it.You will provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or on the telephone.
You will receive, assist and direct patients accessing the appropriate service or health care professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
You will undertake a variety of administrative duties, and facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health team and other associated healthcare agencies.
About us Brynhyfryd Medical Centre is a GP Training Practice.
We area purpose built health centre with community based services held at ourpremises.You will be working with a team of GP's, PhysicianAssociates, Pharmacists in addition to the administration support from otherpractice staff.The Practice aims to provide a high level of primaryhealthcare to the local community, with the emphasis on the family and theactive use of giving good medical advice to our patients that will empower themto both prevent illness and improve their standard of healthcare.
It is ourintention to promote a healthier lifestyle and to work in partnership withpatients, families, community and service providers to involve them in decisionmaking and care provision.
Job description Job responsibilities Ensure an effective andefficient reception service is provided.Book in patients if they havenot used the Self Check in system onto the clinical system.Deal with general enquiries,explain procedures and make routine and follow-up appointments.Communicate test results,ensuring accuracyUsing your own judgment andcommunication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but whoneed urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.Be aware of all the clinicsthat are operating now and in the future so that appropriate appointments canbe made.Explain practice arrangementsand formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover andensure procedures are completed.Manage a busy switchboard,answering calls within 6 rings.
Divertcalls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriatedelivery.
Be polite and helpful at alltimes.
If a patients behavior becomesunacceptable refer the call to your line manager.Ensure that you provide anefficient, professional handover to the member of staff taking over from youbefore you leave your duty.Enter requests for home visitsonto the EMIS system ensuring careful recording of all relevant details.Open and closing premises ifnecessary, ensuring that the building is totally secured, internal lights areoff and alarm activated when leaving.Follow locking up protocol.
Person Specification Experience Essential Previous receptionist experience or similar.
Experience of working with the general public in a customer facing role.
Experience of dealing with enquires.
Desirable Experience of working in the NHS/Pubic Sector.
Qualifications Essential Good level of literacy and numeracy.
Good general level of education.
Desirable GCSE's Knowledge Essential Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Able to prioritise workload
