Job summary Applicationsare invited to apply for a Trust Doctor (ST1/2) post in Trauma &Orthopaedic Surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.Thefull time post is available from February 2025 for a period of 6 months andwill be based at Leeds General Infirmary.LeedsTeaching Hospitals is the second largest Major Trauma Centre in the UK, basedat Leeds General Infirmary.Wecan offer you frequent exposure to polytrauma & orthopaedic surgery alignedwith excellent training opportunities.You will be allocated an Educational Supervisor to help guide yourcareer aspirations, and to maximise educational opportunities you have theopportunity to access medical expertise in a wide variety of disciplines.
Main duties of the job Thesuccessful post holder will work with a team of surgeons to provide inpatientcare for both trauma & elective patients.Excellent training opportunities are available in clinic and theatre, aswell as exposure to acute trauma.
Thepostholder will contribute to the on call rota alongside FY1/2s and RegistrarDoctors.

Job description Job responsibilities internationallyrenowned for treatment and research and offers the highest levels of service,and access to world class treatment in Trauma & Orthopaedics, Plastic andreconstructive surgery and rheumatology.
It is also home to the LeedsMusculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit (LMBRU).Thesubstantive post holder will work solely at Leeds General Infirmary for bothdaytime and out of hours work.
Whilstworking out of hours you will work with three other tiers of junior staff toprovide the acute trauma service.
Youwill be the first contact for the Emergency Department referrals and theadmissions unit.
You will also be required to support the Foundation Yeardoctors in the management of inpatients.
Excellenttraining opportunities are available in clinic and theatre as well as a vastexposure to acute trauma.Therewill be research opportunities within the job plan for those wishing to pursueit.TheCSU provides care for approximately 20,000 in-patients and 110,000 out-patientson an annual basis.
The catchment area of the population is approximately800,000, with a Major Trauma Network & tertiary referral population of million from Yorkshire.TheDepartment of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery provides Trauma and ElectiveOrthopaedic services to Leeds residents and beyond.
Leeds General Infirmary isthe second largest Major Trauma Centre in England.Aregional service is also provided for complex and revision arthroplasty,paediatric orthopaedic surgery, foot and ankle surgery and both acute traumaand post trauma reconstructive surgery.
A joint hand service is also providedwith plastic surgery.Thetrauma service is based in the Leeds General Infirmary, providing specialistservices such as spinal injuries, open fractures, post injury limbreconstruction and complex fracture work.TheTrauma service has four dedicated wards plus one paediatric ward including twopaediatric HDU beds, a six bedded HDU shared with plastic surgery, and twospinal wards shared with Neurosurgery.
There are three dedicated traumatheatres providing a 24 hr seven day service, one dedicated spine andreconstructive trauma theatre, and three dedicated paediatric orthopaedictheatre sessions per week in addition to paediatric trauma lists.
Person Specification Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills Essential GMC registration with licence to practice.

4 Months Orthopaedic experience at FY or CT or equivalent Experience of UK Healthcare system Experience Essential 6 months experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competences, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills Essential Demonstrates understanding of research, including awareness of ethical issues Ability to prioritise clinical need Qualifications Essential MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
