Job summary The Information Governance Team are looking for a member of staff to join us for a full time, permanent role.You will report to the Information Governance Manager and be supported to work closely, with other members of the IG Team and the organisation, to deliver operational IG matters both to the ICB and wider partners.We are looking for someone who already has experience in Information Governance but wants to develop new skills and be involved in large scale data sharing projects, whilst also being passionate about improving data practices within the Black Country.
We want someone who enjoys working within a supportive team, whilst also being able to manage their own workload to ensure that timeframes are adhered to.The IG Team are involved in lots of local and national groups so are at the forefront of IG changes.
Main duties of the job Supporting Information Governance work programmes and assisting with organisational IG procedures to promote efficient and effective use of information.Chair Information Governance meetings.Undertake annual Information Governance auditsDesign and deliver IG Training sessionsReviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments, Data Sharing and Processing Agreements and supporting Black Country wide protocols and MOUs.Contribute to all aspects of IG development by sharing and promoting ideas.Provide advice to Trust staff and GPs on the content and location of IG policies and procedures and other associated information/ documents.Implement NHS England directives and delegationsProvide second line review of Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests, as well guidance on exemptions and other areas of the legislation About us The Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB) is a statutory NHSorganisation responsible for developing a plan for meeting the health needs of million people in the Black Country.

Individual practice support to discuss DSPTcompliance is required.Provide practices with evidence requiredwhere this is held or sourced by the Supplier.Provision of advice and guidance to GPPractices on IG related issues, including existing operational processes andprocedures or new business initiatives.Training Primary Care in relation toInformation Governance, including the development and provision of trainingmaterials to support IG, as required, and delivery of ad-hoc IG training thatis not covered by the mandatory online Data Sharing Awareness training module.
PlanningThe post holderwill be required to plan the delivery of the IG strategy, annual DSPTsubmission and policy to ensure the organisation achieves its strategic aims.The post holder will be required to ensure appropriate and timely informationon the progress against the IG work plan are available for the schedule ofreports and committees supporting the IG agenda.Data analysisThe post holderwill be required to collate and analyse information and data on the various IGwork streams (with specific reference to the elements covered in the DAPT) toenable clear and comprehensive reporting to Audit Committee and IG committees.This will include conflicting demands in resource, securing evidence fromexternal providers IT for cyber security controls and compliance from allareas of the organisation to complete and conform to IG requests for Dataprotection.
The post holderwill be required to develop and maintain various information systems for thecollation and processing of IG information and data to support the requiredreporting both internally and externally The postholderwill need to demonstrate effective communication skills to communicate complexprocesses to staff to ensure compliance with the IG policy and GDPR.
There willbe occasions where staff will have different views and conflicting opinions onthe advice that the post holder gives.
There will be occasions when the postholder needs to speak with members of the public relating to SARs requestswhere the information maybe sensitive for example individual case management orcomplex health care.
The post holderis responsible for the development and implementation of all policy and serviceimprovements.
Financialresponsibilities - the post holder will hold a delegated budget for informationgovernanceThe post holderwill need to carry out complex one off audits to test the effectiveness of theIG policy to ensure compliance with the requirements.
Person Specification Skills and Knowledge Essential Ability to work within and lead cross functional working and project groups Awareness of the broad strategic direction of the organisation Excellent listening, communication and presentation skills Excellent writing skills, including the ability to summarise information and key issues Report writing with ability to illustrate information graphically Standard keyboard skills: knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc A strong sense of personal and team accountability coupled to a clear understanding of the boundaries around delegated authority Must be able to use initiative to decide relevant actions and make recommendations to Sponsor/ Manager, with the aim of improving deliverables and compliance with policies Ability to make decisions autonomously, when required, on difficult issues, working to tight and often changing timescales Qualifications Essential Educated to masters level equivalent in Information Governance or equivalent experience.
This should include specialist knowledge of the current legislation in the relevant field Experience Essential Demonstrable experience of IG in healthcare with understanding of the IG application in both provider and commissioner settings.
