We are currently setting up Residential Children's homes and seeking a Senior lead, who has the ability to build and maintain rapport with clients while providing an exceptional level of service. As a Senior Lead, you will play a key role in maintaining supervision and care of children and will be responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day functions within the home. You must have experience in working in a Residential Children's Home setting / Supported accommodation setting.Working as a Children's Home Senior Lead, you must be willing to go above and beyond for the children and young people, ensuring that they have an experience of childhood that they can reflect upon and carry with them into adulthood. Your team must be driven by a shared ambition to ensure that the children and young people have an experience of childhood that they deserve, one filled with fun, laughter, friendship and discovery.ResponsibilitiesTo assist the Deputy Manager/Registered Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose. To deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager. To support and manage the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people. To undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate. To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints. To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people. To offer supervision and support to other staff in line with Quality StandardsCandidates will have
  • 1-2 years of experience working with young people in a residential setting
  • A supportive nature towards the young people and staff
  • Experience in EBD (Emotional Behaviour Disorder)
  • An uncompromising stance against poor practices
  • Organised person
  • Capable of working with and managing a team, as well as eliciting the best performance from the team.

  • Counselling skills / Training skills
  • Recruitment experience
  • Secondary education with a good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Diploma L3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Willingness to complete Diploma L5 L&M in H&SC
Duties & ResponsibilitiesTo meet the needs of children through: Ensuring that each young person has an allocated key workerEnsuring that each member of staff is aware of each child’s relevant plan’s and their responsibilities for its implementationCarrying out the role of “on-call manager” to provide OOH support for the home, on a rota basisAttending childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for young peopleUndertaking direct work with young people and acting as an appropriate role modelAssist in developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receiveMaintaining accurate written records to record information and enable regular monitoring and evaluation to take placeWorking in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.Chairing children’s meetings and facilitating consultation with young people generallyActing as an appropriate adultTo manage a staff team through: Providing managerial control and direction in relation to staff duties and responsibilitiesAssist with the recruitment and retention of staff including induction training for new staff into the homeSupervision of new starters during their probationary periodDevelop a management style that balances the need to exercise control and give direction with the need to offer staff the opportunity for decision makingTaking responsibility for planning shifts and ensuring their smooth running when on dutyProviding consultation and informal advice and support to staff in relation to day to day mattersOffering 1:1 supervision to staff in line with Quality StandardsIdentifying and progressing individual training and development needs of staff in the context of their personnel development plansUndertaking annual appraisal of staffAddressing issues concerning conduct and competence of staffConduct management investigations when requiredAssist the Registered Manager in promoting personal and professional development through the appropriate delegation of duties and responsibilitiesContributing to the team and staff meetings to facilitate good communication and staff developmentEnsuring staff work within the Homes policies, procedures and Quality Standards requirementsEnsuring that there are appropriate and adequate reporting and recording systems in place to comply with Quality StandardsAttending to all administration issues in the Home and the provision of weekly management information reportsGeneral responsibilities: To assist the Registered Manager in the implementation of all aspects of the Statement of PurposeContribute to the devising, implementing and evaluation of changes, with the involvement of front line staff, to continually improve services, systems and standards, in conjunction with the Registered Manager and the SeniorManagement teamTo deputise in the absence of the Registered ManagerTo drive company vehicles – subject to policies and proceduresTo work on a rota basis according to the needs of young peopleTo ensure that resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintainedTo receive supervision in line with the Quality Standards and to take responsibility for personal development and progress of individual training needsTo carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by the Registered Manager
