Job Description

Are you passionate about history and ready to lead a department? Dunbar Education is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of History to join an Ofsted 'good' 11-16 mixed academy in the picturesque Test Valley of Hampshire.


Position Details

  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent
  • Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience) + TLR for Head of History

Key Responsibilities

As Head of History, you will:

  • Develop and execute strategies for teaching and learning in the History department
  • Lead curriculum planning and implementation
  • Drive professional development within the department
  • Inspire and motivate both students and staff
  • Contribute to the school's overall academic success


The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced History teacher who possesses:

  • A relevant degree in History or a related field
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Proven teaching experience at secondary level, ideally within a similar setting
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of departmental success
  • Passion for inspiring students and fostering a love for history
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
