This incredible, well-established charity specialises within Domestic Violence. The charity offers a high-quality service to vulnerable women, providing a safe haven to all its residents.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engagement Officer to work a 22.5-hour working week reporting to the CEO, working out in the field with the public and within the main office based in BD3.
Within this role you will play an integral part of the business, responsible for raising awareness of domestic abuse and its impact on Black and minoritised women and girls in the wider community.
Working with local community radio stations to further raise awareness and promote the services offered by the charity, enabling engagement with hard-to-reach groups.
The role:
* Develop and deliver an information package to local agencies, elevating awareness around all forms of domestic abuse and the impact it has on Black and Minoritised women and girls.
* Organising and delivering awareness campaigns, events and workshops to educate the community about domestic abuse, its effects, specific challenges faced and overcoming adversity.
* Provide in-house training to service users.
* Develop collaborative working relationships with schools, colleges, community centres and hospitals to increase awareness of domestic abuse and the services offered by the Charity.
* Work in partnership with local service providers, ensuring essential information is relayed, creating an increase in referrals, increased awareness and lasting outcomes for women in need of support.
* Seek to positively influence services to collectively reduce stigma, stereotypes and prejudice associated with women seeking support around domestic abuse, forced marriage, honour-based violence and female genital mutation.
* Attend local and national networks/meetings/events to publicise the Charity’s services.
* Maintain effective and efficient administrative procedures, documenting appropriate records and reports as required.
* Provide progress report at fortnightly staff meetings and 6 weekly board meetings
* Create a means of evaluation of the work carried out with local agencies in measuring success
* Participate in training and undertake appropriate learning and development, identified through regular appraisal and supervision with the Project Manager.

About You:
* Previous experience of working within the VAWG Sector (Violence against women and girls)
* The ability to communicate at a professional level with external organisations
* Not fazed by presenting to others
* Ability to plan and prioritise activities
* Ability to seek out and develop joint work opportunities
* Good knowledge of Domestic Violence and the needs of Black and Minoritised women and girls
* Good knowledge of Domestic Violence and the impact on women and girls
* Excellent organisational skills
* Good eye for detail
* Ability to work with in assigned timescales and deadlines
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* A natural ability to engage with staff, students and external stakeholders
* Take ownership of self-development
* Must be car driver/owner
