About the role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN-TA) to join our team and work closely with non-verbal students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role focuses on providing 1:1 support to students across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, helping them to engage with the curriculum and develop essential communication and social skills. You will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, tailored to meet the specific needs of each child.
Application Requirements:
• Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), particularly non-verbal students, in a school setting.
• A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting children’s individual needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of professionals and parents.
• A commitment to inclusive education and a passion for helping every child reach their full potential.
• Relevant qualifications in education, special educational needs, or a related field are desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to non-verbal students with ASD, using tailored strategies to enhance their learning and development.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials to suit the needs of each student.
• Use a range of communication techniques, including visual aids and alternative communication methods, to support students’ engagement and interaction.
• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.
