Neighbourhood Officer

4Recruitment Services are seeking a Neighbourhood Officer to work for our client based in Barnsley. The client will allow hybrid working.
You’ll be responsible for delivering a proactive reassuring practical and visible customer focused tenancy and estate management service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
To deliver a highly visible, effective & proactive tenancy & neighbourhood management service
To deal with or escalate all breaches of tenancy regulations in a timely manner and in line with thresholds and procedures, including Anti-Social Behaviour within relevant timescales using support or enforcement interventions and services as required
Responsible for the day to day patch based void management of properties and work with partners and teams to ensure properties are let as soon as possible to achieve key performance targets
Provide a welcome visit to new tenants within agreed timescales to communicate the required obligations, offering practical support and advice and signpost where needed
Identify customer vulnerability including safeguarding concerns by the completion of support checklists, risk assessments and appropriate interventions, at sign up or as soon as potential issues become apparent
Work with the Lettings Service regarding the assessment of applications to the Housing Waiting List and effective operation of the Lettings Policy, to ensure the best use of housing stock and sustainability of local communities
Provide low level support and make appropriate referrals to services within the clients organisation or to external support providers within agreed timescales under the direction of the Neighbourhood Team Leader
Participate in estate inspections including the clients Independent Living Schemes and communal areas to complete and monitor action plans and make referrals to other service providers where necessary
Identify and signpost any repair/maintenance
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
NVQ Level 3 / BTEC National Certificate or equivalent or relevant experience/transferable skills.
Experience of social housing, including estate management and tenancy management or community safety related work
Ability to communicate with residents and colleagues effectively
Ability to understand community issues as well as current housing issues.
