GSL Education are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant SEN school in Ashington. This is a fantastic opportunity to help students excel in their studies and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers to provide one-on-one and group support, helping students to improve their understanding of various subjects and their practical skills. Your role will also involve assisting in the preparation of lesson materials, supporting classroom activities, and providing feedback on student progress.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant

Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each student. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
Offer individual and small group interventions to help students improve their knowledge and skills. Use evidence-based strategies to support students in developing their understanding of various concepts and practical applications.
Teach and reinforce effective study techniques, helping students to understand and engage with their studies. Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
Work alongside classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Support teachers in addressing learning challenges and fostering a culture of respect and cooperation.
Maintain detailed records of students’ progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each student’s development.
Ensure that students receive comprehensive support by collaborating with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families.
Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant

Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
A genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Relevant qualifications or training in education are desirable.
