Job Overview

Carpenters Group seeks a highly skilled Personal Injury Claims Specialist to join our team. This role will involve handling litigated and non-litigated personal injury claims between £5,000 and £150,000 in an efficient and proactive manner.

Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is around £50,000 - £70,000, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of motor claims, with the aim of maximising damages for clients by identifying and pursuing all relevant heads of loss.
  • Flag vulnerable clients and record the reasons for extra time, care, and attention.
  • Obtain necessary evidence to establish liability and value quantum, following departmental practices.
  • Carry out due diligence on clients, warning them about fraud and fundamental dishonesty at key stages.
  • Instruct counsel, attend conferences, and hearings as needed.
  • Ensure clear instructions are obtained from lay and/or Litigation Friend clients and that they are fully documented.
  • Achieve targets related to WIP, fee income, settlements, closure, and issuing.
  • Keep clients informed and up-to-date throughout the claim's life cycle through proactive communication.
  • Send correct retainers and rates to clients, update costs estimates annually, and review retainer rates regularly.
  • Scrutinise evidence for inconsistencies and discuss liability and/or quantum offers with relevant parties.

Requirements

  • A Solicitor, ILEX qualified, or file handler with substantial experience in the personal injury field.
  • A proven track record of running a successful caseload in a claimant personal injury environment.
  • A good working knowledge of the CPR, relevant case law, and legislation, as well as experience progressing claims in a timely manner.
  • Good IT skills, including a sound working knowledge of VF or a similar case management system and MS Office.
