Complex Injury Assistant Lawyer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Complex Injury Assistant Lawyer to join our Liverpool office. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Partner, Victoria Coleman, handling a diverse range of complex injury claims involving high-value multi-track and catastrophic injuries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Critical Analysis: Conduct forensic analysis of voluminous quantum evidence, preparing chronologies, identifying anomalies, and other relevant information across various sources and categories of evidence.
  • Medical Expertise: Utilize your existing knowledge of complex injury symptomology to identify relevant issues within medical records, instructing medical experts and drawing key issues to their attention.
  • Liability Evidence: Critically analyze sources of liability evidence, identifying any gaps, and drafting concise technical advice on all aspects of claim handling, including indemnity, liability, quantum, and causation issues.
  • Claims Resolution: Proactively identify next steps required on matters, discuss those aspects with the Lead Lawyer, and take action as agreed.
  • Witness Interviews: Interview witnesses and draft statements, liaising with parties involved in claims, including insured, insurers, witnesses, etc.
  • Pleadings and Applications: Draft pleadings and applications, instructing counsel, and attending conferences, JSMs, mediations, both remotely and in person.
  • Court Attendance: Attend court in person or by telephone, attend trials, settlement conferences, etc., as required.
  • Performance Targets: Deliver agreed performance targets and quality standards, delegating assigned tasks for a Complex Injury Paralegal and being fully engaged in their development.
Requirements:
  • Qualified solicitor, CILEX, or proven legal experience.
  • Experience of indemnity, liability, and quantum.
  • Claimant background considered if significant large loss/CAT experience.
  • Well-rounded lawyer with a deep understanding of case law, litigation practice & process, and Court Practice Rules.
  • Ability to deliver an outstanding service to clients.
