The successful candidate will lead the culture and heritage service, which includes an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation and several arts and heritage assets. The postholder will be responsible for implementing the council's new Culture and Heritage Strategy, which aims to engage residents in creative and cultural activities rooted in the borough's heritage and diverse communities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the creative sector and its positive impact on residents' lives. They will be able to deliver results in a financially sustainable way and engage with the community, funders, and stakeholders across both public and private spheres.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the culture and heritage service, including the Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation and several arts and heritage assets
- Implement the council's new Culture and Heritage Strategy
- Engage residents in creative and cultural activities rooted in the borough's heritage and diverse communities
- Work closely with colleagues in public health and employment to ensure opportunities in the sector create real, positive change in residents' lives
