About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our diverse and friendly team at Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and coordination of the assessment, treatment, and management of children and young people accessing our local CAMHS Team.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in community CAMHS services and/or have specialist knowledge of treatment and management of mental health disorders in children and young people. They will also have an understanding of relevant legislation, knowledge of Safeguarding and Clinical Risk Assessment, Management, and its application in practice.

The ability to make balanced decisions and use positive risk-taking approaches, while managing potentially high-pressure situations, is essential. The successful candidate will undertake needs-led, evidence-based assessments and therapeutic interventions with children and young people.

Person Specification
  • Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
  • Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving.
  • Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area Or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years.
  • Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification e.g Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (level 3 Independent Prescriber).
  • Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD.
  • Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.
  • Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours.
Experience
  • Experience of working in child and adolescent mental health services at a band 6 level.
  • Experience of delivering clinical and management supervision.
  • Experience of work in the community.
  • Experience of care coordination.
Skills
  • Knowledge of normal child and adolescent development.
  • Knowledge of mental health disorders and therapeutic interventions.
