Job Description

Job Title: Biomedical Science Support Worker - Laboratory Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Biomedical Science Support Worker to join our team in the laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, sorting, and registering specimens and patient details in our Laboratory Information system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, sort, and register specimens and patient details in the Laboratory Information system
  • Separate and store blood and other specimens for current and future laboratory testing
  • File and scan report cards and other documents
  • Answer telephone enquiries from general practitioners and hospital departments concerning details of specimens and patient information
  • Pack and send laboratory specimens which are being referred to other laboratories
  • Assist with patient enquiries
  • Act as receptionist for laboratory visitors

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
