The Government Legal Department (GLD) is a leading provider of legal services across government, working with main Whitehall departments to develop and draft legislation.

We seek a skilled Senior Maritime Lawyer to join our team, offering expert advice on international maritime security law and aspects of public and domestic law.

This role involves liaising closely with colleagues and engaging with other departments in Whitehall and the GLD to advise on public law, draft secondary legislation, and work on plans for legislative reform.

Your Role

As a key member of the Maritime team, you'll focus on high-profile issues, including seafarers' welfare, autonomous ships, and de-carbonisation of ships and ports.

You'll provide sound direction, managing risks and identifying positive and creative solutions in a political environment.
