About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Dietetic Specialist to join our team at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The ideal candidate will have a significant amount of clinical dietetic experience, including previous experience in metabolic dietetics.

The Children's Health Practitioner will be responsible for jointly leading the metabolic team and supporting the adult ketogenic service from a strategic perspective. This will involve dietetic research, clinical expertise, staff training, and service development in the area of Inherited Metabolic Diseases.

Metabolic Disease Specialist will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be able to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate innovative projects, and will have proficiency in Microsoft Office and nutritional analysis packages.

As a Clinical Nutrition Expert, you will have the opportunity to mentor, facilitate, and/or clinically supervise other members of the MDT. You will also be able to manage your own and others' time effectively and work to deadlines.

Pediatric Dietitian Lead will be responsible for ensuring the risk of infection to self, colleagues, patients, relatives, and visitors is minimized by adhering to Trust policies and guidance on infection prevention and control. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable understanding of the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and/or Knowledge of the NHS obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duties.

Nutrition and Dietetics Specialist will be an integral part of our forward-thinking department of 60 dietitians committed to clinical governance initiatives. The successful candidate will be able to take personal responsibility for helping ensure that effective prevention and control of health care-associated infections is embedded into everyday practice and applied consistently.

Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
  • Leadership or management courses / training
  • Extensive postgraduate training to include Inborn Metabolic Disorders training and education
  • Broad clinical experience in dietetics including specialist experience working in Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMD)
  • Lead role and/or active participation in academic, professional, or regional working group for Inherited Metabolic Disorders
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and nutritional analysis packages
  • Extensive lecturing/teaching experience to all health professionals
  • Ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate innovative projects
  • Change management and facilitation skills
  • Motivational interviewing/behavior change/advanced communication skills and/or counselling training
