As a Specialist Children and Family Worker at Essex County Council, you will play a vital role in supporting children and families with complex needs. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding role that requires a high level of autonomy and flexibility. You will work closely with families to build strong relationships, promote positive change, and provide practical and specialist advice. You will also be responsible for managing your own caseload, managing safeguarding risks to children, and taking the lead on an area of professional practice for the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing safeguarding risks to children and ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Taking the lead on an area of professional practice for the team, such as mental health or substance misuse
  • Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to provide comprehensive support to families

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have significant practical experience of working with children and families with complex needs. You will also need to be educated to degree level or equivalent by experience in a relevant area, such as domestic abuse, substance misuse, education, or mental health. Effective communication skills and the ability to keep records on our computer-based system are also essential.
