Family Support Specialist

Essex County Council is seeking a highly skilled Family Support Specialist to join our team. As a Family Support Specialist, you will work closely with families to build strong relationships and promote positive change.

About the Role

The Family Support Specialist will work in family homes and community settings, providing practical and specialist advice to families with complex needs. You will be expected to operate flexibly to meet the needs of families, including some work outside of normal office hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with families to build strong relationships and promote positive change
  • Provide practical and specialist advice to families with complex needs
  • Manage your own caseload and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Manage safeguarding risks to children and work collaboratively with other professionals
  • Take the lead on an area of professional practice, such as mental health, and support team members

About You

  • Significant practical experience of working with children and families with multiple and complex needs
  • Effective communication skills with a range of children, families, and professionals
  • Ability to keep records on our computer-based system and complete assessments in a professional manner
