Job Summary
Part-time Salaried GP Vacancy
We are seeking a high-quality General Practitioner to join our team at Reeth Medical Centre. The ideal candidate will have experience in acute medicine or accident and emergency, and be able to deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The post-holder will provide general medical services, manage a caseload, and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting. This will include surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries and patient test results.
Clinical Responsibilities
The post-holder will make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation. They will also record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards, collect data for audit purposes, and compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
Other Responsibilities
The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. This will include awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies, guidelines, prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, and QOF assessment of the Practice.
Personal and Professional Development
The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the practice as part of this employment, including participation in an annual GP Appraisal and taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
Quality
The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the practice, and will alert other team members to issues of Clinical Governance, quality, and risk. They will also assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision.
Communication
The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to communicate effectively with other team members, patients, and carers.
Contribution to the Planning and Implementation of Services
The post-holder will apply practice policies, standards, and guidance, discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards, and guidelines will affect own work, and participate in audit where appropriate.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
All Practice staff have an individual responsibility for the protection and welfare of adults and children, and must know what to do if concerned that a person is being abused or neglected.
Health and Safety
The post-holder will take reasonable care for his/her own acts or omissions and the effect that these may have upon the safety of themselves or any other person.
Confidentiality
The post-holder will maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff, and company business in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the employee handbook.
