About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance and Enablement Manager to join our team at News UK. As a key member of our Central Data team, you will play a critical role in shaping our data governance strategy and ensuring the effective and ethical use of data across our business.

As a Data Governance and Enablement Manager, you will be responsible for facilitating the shift from a risk and compliance-based function to a business partner that is aligned with our company's goals and KPIs. You will communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote the value of data governance and provide inputs for the definition of our overall Data Enablement strategy.

You will establish metrics to measure progress of data improvement initiatives and turn data governance principles into practice. You will also lead, coordinate, and be the Subject Matter Expert for data management topics such as Data Quality, Information Management, and Data Privacy and Protection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the shift from a risk and compliance-based function to a business partner that is aligned with our company's goals and KPIs
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote the value of data governance
  • Provide inputs for the definition of our overall Data Enablement strategy
  • Establish metrics to measure progress of data improvement initiatives
  • Turn data governance principles into practice
  • Lead, coordinate, and be the Subject Matter Expert for data management topics such as Data Quality, Information Management, and Data Privacy and Protection

Requirements:

  • Significant experience implementing data governance frameworks, including organisation roles and responsibilities, policies, processes, metrics, and tools to support data governance activities
  • Ability to tailor and adjust a data governance framework to the specific circumstances of our business
  • Ability to understand and articulate the business benefits of implementing data governance
  • Experience working in the implementation of core data management practices, including metadata management, data quality management, master data management, information management, data privacy, protection, and security
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements such as DPA2018, GDPR, CCPA, TcF, PECR
