Quality Assurance Specialist
We are a leading consumables manufacturer based in Wellingborough, seeking an experienced QHSE Coordinator to spearhead all site quality assurance, health and safety, and environmental compliance initiatives.
BASIC SALARY: Up to £45,000 per annum, dependent on relevant experience and qualifications.
LOCATION: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, with easy commutability from Bedford, Northampton, Kettering, Rushden, Thrapstone, Huntingdon, and St Neots.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the implementation of ISO:9001, ISO:14001, and ISO:45001 standards across our site, driving continuous quality improvements and corrective actions. Your focus will initially be on product quality management, supplier quality improvements, and proactive measures to mitigate risks.
Reporting directly to our Operations Director, you will be responsible for instilling a robust quality mindset throughout the organization, ensuring seamless adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
We operate a low-risk DSEAR site with hot extruders and various chemicals stored, and we monitor our air quality closely. Therefore, your ability to analyze root causes of non-conformances, develop effective countermeasures (8D), and implement process improvements is critical to our success.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Driving all QHSE-related compliance across the business, focusing on ISO:9001 and quality management excellence
- Addressing customer complaints related to non-conformance, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to enhance product quality
- Investigating accidents and HSE risks to staff members, developing mitigation strategies, and implementing counteractions
- Reducing environmental impact through waste reduction, energy efficiency, and renewable materials
- Supporting NPI and process improvement initiatives
YOUR BACKGROUND:
We seek an individual with a strong background in quality management, quality improvements, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. You will likely possess relevant certifications such as Internal Auditor Training or CQI/IRCA, demonstrating your expertise in quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
An ideal candidate should have extensive experience driving QHSE compliance across manufacturing facilities, be proficient in quality-related inspection techniques, and hold certifications like IOSH Managing Safely, CSP, or NEBOSH. Six Sigma certification or equivalent would be beneficial but not essential.
This exciting opportunity suits applicants with broad experience in quality management or QHSE gained within a manufacturing environment. We welcome applications from experienced Managers, Coordinators, Supervisors, or Engineers looking to progress their careers.
PROSPECTS:
You will enjoy full autonomy in overseeing site QHSE, working closely with a seasoned Operations Director who holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. There are opportunities for professional growth and development, and sponsorship may be available for further training and certifications.
