About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Corporate Counsel to join our global IP team in Europe or the UK, specializing in AI and data privacy law matters. As Principal Intellectual Property Counsel for Emerging Technologies, you will work closely with the IP transactions legal team and the wider global IP legal team on various aspects of intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and data privacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance to business teams on compliance requirements surrounding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, including driving negotiations on AI-related terms in vendor and client contracts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to develop processes related to AI adaptation, ensuring seamless integration of emerging technologies into our operations.
  • Analyze and interpret AI laws in the UK and Europe, applying this knowledge to guide Infosys' business strategies and risk assessment processes.
  • Review technical and legal aspects of services or product agreements, highlighting risks and negotiating with clients, vendors, or partners to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Oversee the Intellectual Property (IP), AI, and data privacy risk assessment process for proprietary product/platform development, identifying potential pitfalls and recommending solutions.
  • Work closely with business teams to understand technical and commercial contexts, translating these requirements into actionable insights for drafting legal agreements from an IP, AI, and data privacy perspective.
  • Conduct in-depth research on emerging AI legal regulations to enhance awareness and update contractual positions, staying ahead of industry developments.
  • Support the creation of IP and AI materials to educate the organization on best practices, ensuring a culture of innovation and compliance.

Requirements:

  • 8-12 years' experience in a corporate environment or a law firm, with a strong background in intellectual property, AI, and data privacy.
  • LLB or LLM degree, preferably with a specialization in electronic or software law.
  • A technical background in electronic/software would be highly desirable, as would familiarity with the fundamentals of AI technology and regulatory developments across different jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of various contracts, including MSA, software license agreements, SaaS, teaming agreements, and MOUs.
  • A keen interest in emerging technology areas, such as AI, IoT, Cloud, security, and practical knowledge of issues like fair use, derivative works, authorship, infringement, licensing principles, and risk scenarios in the software industry.
  • The ability to demonstrate solutions provided to complex techno-legal issues and showcase expertise in navigating intricate regulatory landscapes.
